Situational Awareness
Situational Awareness is peripheral vision. When your peripheral vision is on, you can see 188 degrees. This means you have the ability to see 4 degrees behind you on either side (as a result of the curvature of the eye). Add to that the reflective surfaces of car and store front windows, and you can ‘bank shot’ your vision behind you. Iron sights and red dots focus the vision and tend towards tunnel vision, the opposite of peripheral vision. This is needed for shots requiring extreme accuracy, but in a gunfight at 10 to 20 feet, we don’t need extreme accuracy. We need situational awareness. Green Light Sights support peripheral vision and situational awareness.
